In 2007, the Australian government said thanks very much but your time is up, leading the Australian people in an energy efficiency drive with a ban on incandescent bulbs. Stage two will see incandescent bulbs banned from retail sale in November 2009, so expect to see them slowly disappear from your supermarket and hardware store shelves.
